Apparently, the late Pope John Paul II used to beat himself with a belt and sleep on the floor, in the nude, with nary a pillow, to “bring himself closer to Christ”, according to a recently published book, entitled, “Why he is a Saint: The True story of John Paul II.”

The kinky pontiff’s penchant for self-flagellation was well-known throughout the Vatican, members of his own entourage regularly overhearing these nightly sessions.

He even had a favorite belt he used, says the steamy bio, “In the closet… among the cloaks… a particular pant-belt hung from a hook… which he utilized… as a whip”

Hot.

The author of the titillating tome also happens to be the Head of the Vatican committee investigating whether John Paul II should be declared a saint.

Imagine that?

John Paul II, Patron Saint of Submissives… yeah, it’s got a nice ring to it, I think.

As for the La Popa, he was having a “quiet dinner” with the Marquis de Sade up in heaven and couldn’t be bothered to comment.

The creepy albino monk from the Da Vinci Code, however, was more than willing to offer his views on the subject, summing it all up by quoting the late John Lennon, “Whatever gets you through the night.. It’s alright..  It’s alright”.
