Nick Jonas went on the Jimmy Kimmel show last night, and talked a bit about the re-recording of ‘we are the world’ for the Haiti relief effort. When discussing the original version, Jonas smugly called Dylan’s part ‘unique’ and went on to reveal that Lil Wayne was asked to sing the solo originally sung by Bob Dylan, but initially declined saying, “I can’t sing,’” to which Dick Anus said, “Exactly. Perfect.’”
Godalmighty mamaloochie!!
First off… ‘We are the world’? Are you kidding me? Still, in a sense it makes sense. In this era of mendacious, vanilla, flavorless, machine pop ‘We are the world’ is a perfect choice. It encapsulates everything that was wrong about 80s music, so it only stands to reason that it should be heralded as great by the ‘musicians’ of today. Back then, anyone with any taste at all considered it a complete joke. It’s just sad.
Now as far as this little tool’s Dylan diss is concerned, all I have to say is, if Bob Dylan can’t sing, then the high pitched constipated flatulence emanating from this muldoon’s mouth is musical anti-matter. Just the fact that someone so devoid of not just talent, but any shred of credible ‘it-ness’ is considered a viable musician nowaydays, just proves that we are in the midst of a cultural armageddon that makes the burning of Alexandria look like smoke in a frying pan.

Who the hell is this Disney factory hack to insult Bob Dylan? One of the most charming things about Dylan is how the lyrics sound coming out of his voicebox. Sure Bob has gotten a little raspier as he has gotten older but he still has more talent in a single note than this teenybobber will have in his whole career. TRL ruined music.
He clearly wasn’t questioning Bob Dylan’s abilities as an artist, he was simply stating that his part in ‘We are the world’ does not require a particularly melodic singing voice. What a ridiculous thing to comment on anyway. I think someone needs to take that chip of their shoulder. And to be honest with you, Jonas Brothers are pretty original these days, they write their own songs, perform them, never lip sync, and still use good old guitar based music, unlike alot of ‘artists’ who have ditched this for more dance based pop. Everyone gets a break, and theirs happened to be Disney. That doesnt mean their automatically bad and you have to pick on them. It just gets old.
to say he’s ‘pretty original these days’ is about the worst thing you can do… you’ve resigned yourself to accepting mediocrity and mendacity when the truth is, there’s nowhere writter that says we HAVE TO!
Nick Jonas is for the lobotomized, autobots sleepwalking through this world… the post bush, post 9/1l formaldehyde brains, Nick Jonas is their perfect representative… he embodies all their misguided ieals, and phony falsitudes… he’s like so revolting amalgam of michael jackson and 1980s springsteen, only without ANY talent… and it’s not just him, it’s all of that big machine pop, but as I said… no one says we have to give in to this sickly similitude… we have free will.
I saw his horrible off key effort on SNL and he can’t sing for sure. And his music stinks too.
I’m not picking on Nick Jonas. I listened to his album and it sucks. Whether he came from Disney or not he is still hack and his music makes me envy the deaf

Boy it sure helps to have one of the biggest corporations in the world jump-start your career
I still can not belive that some cocky disney act has the balls to insult one of the best songwriters and performers. not to mention Bob Dylan was ranked in the top 10 of the best singers of all time acording to Rolling Stone magizene. So to nick jonas, think twice before you do this again, and a seriously hope that you dont do it to some one of the likes of Jimi Hendrix, or Robert Plant. And on a side note, i listened to his new solo album… id rather not again.
