A new study out today reports that individuals who consume two or more sweetened soft drinks have a much higher rate of pancreatic cancer. Mark Pereira of the University of Minnesota, and leader of the research team states, “The high levels of sugar in soft drinks may be increasing the level of insulin in the body, which we think contributes to pancreatic cancer cell growth.”
Whew… good thing I only drink DIET Coke.
This is pretty scary stuff, but it seems like every other day some alarming study is released informing us that eating, drinking or inhaling one thing or another will eventually lead us to an untimely and decidedly unpleasant demise.
I’m just waiting for the news that swallowing too much saliva will eventually lead to stomach cancer. To tell you the truth, I haven’t been feeling altogether too well lately, been experiencing some strange pains in my lower intestine… kinda feeling them now actually… might need to call 91…
