Is the Betelgeuse ‘two suns’ supernova story a cover-up for Planet X collision?
Ok, so there was this recent news blurb about the star Betelgeuse going supernova, and that it could result in an explosion so magnificent, that it would appear in our sky as bright as a second sun, causing perpetual daylight for a month as early as 2012. The article says it won’t have any ill-effects on us, still, I found it pretty creepy and was a bit weirded out that the time-table for it happening was the infamous ’2012′.
Apparently, I’m not the only one.
It seems, there’s been this long-time conspiracy theory that there’s a huge planet called Nibiru – or Planet X – looming outside our solar system approximately 7 billion miles away, and that it’s headed right at us. Well, believers of this theory are now saying that this whole ‘two suns’ deal is just a cover-up for the impending collision with Planet X. They say that the Government’s planted the Betelgeuse story, so that when Planet X approaches, everyone will just think it’s the Betelgeuse supernova.
I have to say, I was more than a bit unsettled when I read about this gloomy prospect. According to these theorists, only the rich will survive by scurrying underground in protective bunkers – which are now furiously being constructed somewhere out west – and the rest of us poor shnooks will be kissing our asses good-bye.
Yep…I was pretty freaked.
Of course, when I read more about it, I became slightly less panicky.
You see, there’s absolutely not one credible shred of proof that this is actually happening. In fact, the source of this incredible story is this whackadoodle named Nancy Lieder – a Wisconsin woman who claims that as a girl she was contacted by gray extraterrestrials called Zetas, who implanted a communications device in her brain.
Later on, an author named Zecharia Sitchin wrote a book about it called ‘End Of Days’ and now there’s a contingent out there that are totally sure we’re all about to die a horrific death come 2012.
The whole Nibiru tale reads like bad science fiction. Sicthin writes that aliens from Nibiru visited ancient Sumeria and created the human race by tampering with the genetic structure of primates in order to enslave us for the purposes of mining for gold. He claims that this all documented in Sumerian text.
Jeebus…makes Scientology sounds downright sane.
So what about this Betelguese supernova? Is it a cover-up or what? Well, it turns out that the original article which emanated from news.com.au, was a tad overstated. Scientists are now saying that most probably this won’t be happening in our lifetime, and when it does, it won’t appear as bright as the sun, more likely it will be about as visible as the moon. Moreover, the whole ’2012′ speculation was emphasized by the reporter and not the actual scientist interviewed.
Smells like someone trying to make a buck to me.
Just like Y2k and a million other doomsday scenarios, people like Sitchin and the author of the supernova article play on people’s innate pussy-fication to sell their bunk. As far as I’m concerned, that mentality is more indicative of the end of the days then any mythical planet hanging out in space, ready to unleash a can of whoop-ass on poor little earth.
Indians wrote much better things 4000 years ago than this.
One glaring issue about this theory: If the belegeuse explosion were to be a cover story, how will science explain the prominent left shoulder star in the Orion constellation?
What is REALLY freaky is the more probable scenario in which the human race continues to suck as it does now for a very very long time.

The whole ’2012′ connection came from the AUTHOR of the article in order to drum up interest…and he’s obviously done a good job of it. The actual scientist he quoted made no mention of 2012 at all.
Moreover, the ‘coverup’ makes no sense, because if betelgeuse goes supernova, even the most amateur of astronomers would be able to tell that it is in fact BETELGEUSE and not some mythical planet….

read “the Kolbrin” its an ancient manuscript which recorded the accounts of the Destroyer/planet X over 3600 yrs. ago. also the bible gives various passages which points directly to the Destroyer and its orbit and timeframe.
If planet X smashes the Earth into oblivion in 2012, then we won’t have to worry about the national debt; we won’t have to worry about unemployment; we won’t have to worry that the government is stealing our pension funds; and we won’t have to worry about who wins/loses the next election.

I hope that if it’s really coming, some spacecraft is launched into a high safe orbit to photograph the event, and then begin transmitting it to the far corners of the universe. I have been reading Sitchen since “The 12th Planet”. I am skeptical of ALL information I receive, but he does make a case for his theory that is tossed aside so easily. Knowing what we know now in the field of genetics, that seems much more likely than many other fantastical stories of our beginnings.
I also agree with The Zeitgeisty Report that even the most amateur observer would debunk any “cover up” conspiracy. Anyone with a telescope should easily be able to identify Betelgeuse against an incoming planet.

This story is another sad illustration of our society’s ignorance of basic science and attachment to religiousy delusion. I would hope people would stop looking for revealed truths, whether from Mayans (how did they know when Betelgeuse would go nova?) or the Bible or Nostradamus, and start understanding the world as it is, through science education.

Betelgeuse is the LEFT shoulder star and Bellatrix is the RIGHT shoulder star. I think it is funny as well that they are saying we may see it. At 624 light years if it has not gone suernova already we wont see it for 600 or so years. For us to see it anytime soon line 2011 or 2012…..the Supernova already happenned about 600 years ago.

Here is a great site and has clickable constellations. The whole mixup on the net stating that Bellatrix is the left should when left to right the head on the left and belt and knees are to the right. If stood up (so to speak) then indeed Betelgeuse is the left shoudler and Bellatrix is the right. The Earth could soon have a second sun, at least for a week or two.
The cosmic phenomenon will happen when one of the brightest stars in the night sky explodes into a supernova.
And, according to a report yesterday, the most stunning light show in the planet’s history could happen as soon as this year.

Earth will undoubtedly have a front row seat when the dying red supergiant star Betelgeuse finally blows itself into oblivion.
The explosion will be so bright that even though the star in the Orion constellation is 640 light-years away, it will still turn night into day and appear like there are two suns in the sky for a few weeks.
The only real debate is over exactly when it will happen.
In stellar terms, Betelgeuse is predicted to crash and burn in the very near future. But that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to rush out and buy sunglasses.
Brad Carter, Senior Lecturer of Physics at the University of Southern Queensland in Australia, claimed yesterday that the galactic blast could happen before 2012 – or any time over the next million years.
‘This old star is running out of fuel in its centre,’ Dr Carter told te Austalian website news.com.au.
‘This fuel keeps Betelgeuse shining and supported. When this fuel runs out the star will literally collapse in upon itself and it will do so very quickly.
‘This is the final hurrah for the star. It goes bang, it explodes, it lights up – we’ll have incredible brightness for a brief period of time for a couple of weeks and then over the coming months it begins to fade and then eventually it will be very hard to see at all,’ he added.
Look out: Betelgeuse, which is in the Orion constellation, is set to blow itself into oblivion – which will give the effect of two suns in the sky for us on Earth
The Internet is abuzz with doomsday theories linking the supernova to the Mayan calendar’s prediction of an Armageddon in 2012, fuelled by the association of the word ‘Betelgeuse’ with the devil.
But experts claimed that even if the big bang is looming, it will still happen way too far from Earth to do us any harm.
‘When a star goes bang, the first we will observe of it is a rain of tiny particles called nuetrinos,’ said Dr Carter.
‘They will flood through the Earth and bizarrely enough, even though the supernova we see visually will light up the night sky, 99% of the energy in the supernova is released in these particles that will come through our bodies and through the Earth with absolutely no harm whatsoever.’
When it happens, the Betelgeuse supernova will almost certainly be the most dramatic ever seen.
It is the ninth brightest star in the night sky and the second brightest in the constellation of Orion, outshining its neighbour Rigel – or Beta Orionis – only very rarely.
It’s distinct orange-red colour makes it easy to spot in the night sky.
If it was at the centre of our solar system, its surface would extend past the asteroid belt, wholly engulfing Mercury, Venus, Mars and the Earth.

The oneness or unity of the Bible is a miracle. It is a library of 66 books, written by over 35 different authors in a period of approximately 1500 years. Represented in the authors is a cross section of humanity, educated and uneducated, including kings, fishermen, public officials, farmers, teachers and physicians. Included in the subjects are religion, history, law, science, poetry, drama, biography and prophecy. Yet, it’s various parts are as harmoniously united as the parts that make up the human body. For 35 authors, with such varied backgrounds, to write on so many subjects, over a period of approximately 1500 years, in absolute harmony, is a mathematical impossibility. It could not happen! I’m so sick of ppl dismissing the whole notion of a 10th planet solely on the grounds that they think that we would have seen it by now. Sure, a lot of the claims about a planet nibiru and the anuuaki are a little out there, even for the most “open minded” conspiracy theorists. This doesn’t change the fact though that there are facts that point to the presence of a 10th planet (like perturbations in the orbit of Neptune that are far greater than the gravitational effect of Pluto or any other known celestial bodies). Regardless of whether there is a 9th planet, I still have a feeling that whatever happens in 2012 will not be favorable for us. There’s no way to know for sure, but I doubt that our collective resonance is on a frequency high enough to ascend into a higher consciousness or w.e it is that they say is supposed to happen.
