A review of HBO’s ‘The Pacific’: A promising and fresh take on the war movie genre

After watching the first episode of HBO’s new mini-series ‘The Pacific’, I was surprised to find myself getting emotional at the closing credits. I’m not sure whether it was because my grandfather had served on Guadalcanal as a doctor during World War II or the realization that after 70 years, we haven’t learned any lessons, we still continue to fight one another and we aren’t any closer to peace on earth good will towards men.
